From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can expect learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
